We're raising money to help BRING work upstream. We want BRING to:

•Create a strategic plan to assist companies with Oregon Benefits Corporation requirements •Educate companies and consumers on the positive impacts of Extended Producer Responsibility •Target new, high-impact industrial sectors, including light industry, construction, and demolition companies •Identify new sources of used materials for resale at BRING

As individuals and businesses, we've supported BRING's efforts to help people understand how the stuff we use shapes the planet we share for more than 44 years. We reduce, reuse, and recycle at home and at work. But we can do more. And we must.

We know that our country throws away too much stuff. And we know that 95 percent of our stuff’s environmental impact happen upstream, during resource extraction and the manufacturing and distribution of goods. As The Story of Stuff documents, one trashcan of consumer waste represents 70 trashcans of upstream waste. That's a lot of waste, and we can reduce it.

As individuals, we’ve supported BRING’s first upstream program, RE:think Busines, which has already helped more than 230 companies rethink the way they do business. As business people, we’ve contributed to the effort. Measurable upstream impacts of our participation in RE:think Business include a 10% increase in waste prevention and recycling, a 15% increase in operational efficiency, and a 14% increase in water quality and conservation measures for certified businesses in just one year. 100 percent of our RE:think-certified businesses use recycled paper and biodegradable, non-toxic cleaners.

This is just the beginning. Through BRING’s work, we’ll help our business community improve it's triple bottom line – people, profits, planet – while slashing waste. With your help, we can reach more businesses and work further upstream.

Our future is upstream. Please invest in it with us.
