West Grand Boulevard, Detroit—Our Home, Our Neighborhood

Who is West Grand Boulevard Collaborative?

Since 2004, the West Grand Boulevard Collaborative has worked to make our neighborhood safe, attractive, and walkable for residents and visitors.

Working on the premise that shared concerns would best be addressed by cohesive community action, West Grand Boulevard Collaborative members (that include businesses, institutions and private households) have done many projects to improve and enhance our neighborhood.

What does West Grand Boulevard Collaborative Do?

One of our beautification projects, the Mary & Albert H. Mallory Reading Garden, is located on the grounds of the Detroit Public Library – Duffield Branch. This project demonstrates how artwork and sustainable landscape design can enhance outdoor spaces to create attractive fresh air-environments for learning and leisure activities.

Current Efforts Include:

Designing and installing bioswales (large engineered rain gardens) to collect stormwater runoff and help reduce risk of flooding in our neighborhood and reduce pollution to rivers too.

Conducting regular cleanups to collect trash around the neighborhood.

Exploring job and training opportunities for residents.

Making our neighborhood more walkable and safer.

Getting street lights turned on in key locations.

How Can You Help?

Help us raise funds for West Grand Boulevard Collaborative and our Partner Freshwater Future!

Your donation will go to support the following:

Purchase tools for our neighborhood tool shed so all neighbors have access to shovels, lawn mowers etc.
