Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program
Help sponsor our first annual picnic for foster families, unaccompanied refugee minors, and alumni.
The Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program (URMP)’s goal is to provide unaccompanied refugee children with care services to guarantee their safety, well-being, and permanency within the best appropriate living environment. URMP assists youth in maintaining their own cultural identity while learning to function successfully in their new surroundings. In addition to refugees, URMP assists youth qualified as victims of trafficking, asylees, entrants, and those with humanitarian visas. All may be designated to receive refugee benefits.
The URMP can serve up to 37 clients in a contract year (foster children and young adults in Independent Living) ranging from age eight (8) to Twenty-two (22). URMP is designed to meet the needs of immigrant children whose situation require foster care as their families of origin are either temporally or permanently unavailable due to political circumstances, economic hardship, sexual trafficking, death, abuse, abandonment, or they are otherwise unwilling, or unable to, provide parental care and supervision.
Catholic Charities is making a home for these unaccompanied refugee children. We are enlisting your assistance in providing donations of funds, computers, school books, gas cards, clothing, food for activities, venue for activities, sponsor activities, sponsor a luncheon, sponsor a child, activities for holidays, and gifts for the Holidays. Our goal is to make our children’s life better and less traumatic while they acclimate to the United States and not having family members around.
If you going to make a check donation please make the check payable to: Catholic Charities Miami- Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program.
