The Run for Refugees is the first of many events that Team Humphreys will be participating in this year. Team Humphreys is a group of grateful students who have been afforded the opportunity to work with Dr. Nancy A. Humphreys, the current chair of the Policy Concentration and Director of the Nancy A. Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. In honor of Dr. Humphreys’ retirement and dedication to her students, interns, and the social work profession, Team Humphreys will be participating in numerous charity events throughout 2014. It is the students' hope to illustrate how one person’s compassion, dedication and leadership can inspire others to change the world. To the social work profession, Dr. Humphreys has made invaluable contributions by creating positive change within society and our school’s community. To the students of Team Humphreys, she is not only an inspiration but a role model for what being a social worker truly means.

All money raised will help IRIS continue their important work placing refugees in decent housing, learning English, finding good jobs, providing legal assistance, and stocking IRIS's food pantry.
