Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, my three older daughters, Andreea, Lavinia, Ruth and I were born in Romania. Even though we haven’t been back to Romania in 14 years, the people of that country have always held a place in our hearts. Living in Romania gave us an opportunity to experience firsthand the hardships that Romanian people face every day. During the years we’ve been living in the U.S., we’ve collected clothing and food items to send to poor families there, to help ease their daily burdens. We always prayed and were willing to allow God to use us to bless these people so dear to our hearts.
Recently we heard about a ministry in Galesu--a village in one of the poorer parts of Romania. The ministry’s name is “Jesus, The Hope of the Children”. The primary focus of this ministry is to assist the underprivileged and neglected children of the village with basic needs that their families are unable to provide for them. Many of these children do not have proper nutrition at home due to poverty; they have to take turns with their siblings going out of the house during cold weather because they do not have their own shoes and coats. Many children don’t even have electricity at home. After school the children have the opportunity to go to the center where they are assisted with homework, taught Bible stories and given a nutritious meal. The ministry is also in the process of building a laundry room and a shower room for the children that come to the center. God has been working through this ministry, and as a result of it many children have given their hearts to Christ and have been baptized.
Our hearts have been touched by the kind of impact this ministry has been making in the lives of these underprivileged kids, and we feel that God is calling us to be a part of it. Our goal is to lead a Vacation Bible School (VBS) at this center during the month of June and to serve at the center in order to relieve the ladies that work in the kitchen by preparing and serving the meals.
We would like to make you a part of our mission. First, please pray that God will use us. Pray that He will open the kids’ hearts to receive His love. Please pray for my five children and husband Steve--who will remain at home--that the Lord will watch over them in our absence. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us every step of the way, and that the Lord will provide our spiritual and financial needs. We would like to raise money to buy shoes, socks, toiletries and other supplies for children. We would also like to buy school supplies for the after school program and materials for the VBS. We would like to provide food for the week that we will be serving as well. We need your help. Every donation will go towards the mission trip and will be greatly appreciated.
