Why join Team Hope?

The SheROX Detroit Triathlon provides a unique opportunity for women of all ages and athletic abilities to compete together for a cause. By donating your time and energy to become a member of Team Hope, you are joining women across the country in an effort to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research.

Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) is the largest non-profit organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to funding ovarian cancer research and is the official charity of the SheROX Triathlon Series. Our mission is to find a method of early detection and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer.

Each year, 200,000 women are diagnosed worldwide with ovarian cancer and 125,000 die from this disease. In the U.S., ovarian cancer accounts for more deaths than all other gynecologic cancers combined and is the 5th leading cause of cancer death among women. If detected and treated early, the five year survival rate increases from 45% to greater than 92%, but there is currently no effective means of early detection.

Since 1998, OCRF has invested almost $40 million in the best and most promising ovarian cancer research. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, OCRF sponsored researchers are developing innovative strategies for early detection; exploring the genetics that increase risk for ovarian cancer; understanding the underlying molecular biology of the disease; identifying new and better targets for treatment; and deciphering how and why ovarian cancer spreads, and how to stop it.

As a member of Team Hope Detroit, you simply pledge to raise a minimum of $750 for ovarian cancer research.

Team Hope allows you to create your own personal fundraising page, where you can upload a photo, tell your story, and encourage friends and family to donate to your campaign.

As part of the Team Hope program, you will also receive a Team Hope Training Kit, which will include training gear to help you cross the finish line in style! OCRF will be in touch to collect sizing and shipping information.
