Team Wixson in honor of Lisa Wixson, who suffered 2 brainstem bleeds from cavernous angioma and underwent brainstem surgery in 2001.

Cavernous angiomas are mulberry-shaped leaky blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord that can hemorrhage causing potentially devastating stroke and seizure. One in every 500 people has a cavernous angioma but most people don't know until it bleeds. Brain surgery is the only current treatment option.

Angioma Alliance, founded in 2002, is the premier patient and research organization for the illness. Funds raised by this benefit walk and others throughout the country will support a DNA/Tissue bank, a patient registry, and annual international scientific meetings all created by Angioma Alliance as part of the search for better treatments and a cure.
