A team for VALLEY INDEPENDENT PERCUSSION
"TEAM VIP" a team to help the VALLEY INDEPENDENT PERCUSSION raise money for NEW QUOTE that was made for instrument purchase!
Valley Independent Percussion, "VIP", was founded in 2004 in Bakersfield, California and is a performing theatrical percussion ensemble. In 2009, VIP relocated to Tulare, California and is the first and only Independent "Open" Class winter drum line located in the Central Valley. The 35 - 40 members of our non-profit youth group include anyone between the ages of fourteen to twenty-two that have a passion for drumming and competing with an eight-time world championship-participating drum line. Our members join us from all over the state of California and we see ourselves as a tight-knit group with one common goal: to work hard, compete and have fun doing it. Members of VIP include students from various ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. VIP competes with groups from all over the world in several drum circuits under the elite governance of Winter Guard International (www.wgi.org).
In 2012, VIP changed leadership. The owners of the instruments that our students use gave us only one more year before they decided to liquidate their belongings. Our growing “sport of the arts” activity that has included hundreds of students may be coming to an end. Several of our students seek out our group to challenge themselves not only as musicians, but also as educators, using the information and experience to obtain employment as instructors in the San Joaquin Valley. We need your help to keep the music playing!
We have several students looking to join our group this fall and we are hoping to start a junior group to serve more youths that are interested in our energetic, challenging and nationally recognized group. Our members perform on percussive musical instruments that can be divided into two main groupings: front ensemble and battery.
Instrument Priority #1: The front ensemble needs five marimbas, four vibraphones, a xylophone and concert bass drum along. Estimated cost is $31,000.00.
Instrument Priority #2: The battery needs eight snare drum kits, five tenor drum kits and six bass drum kits. Estimated cost is $7,000.00.
Our total funding request is $38,000.00. This would allow us to provide instruments for our 35-40 members and continue to compete for many years to come. We would be very happy to provide a detailed budget and justification upon request, as well as any other information or materials you may need.
We greatly appreciate your consideration of one or both projects, and would be happy to discuss these with you in greater detail.
