Dear Friends,

As many of you know a charity I support, Vision Builders, has an annual 5K Run/Walk to raise funds for various projects. For the last few years, Vision Builders has been supporting an orphanage in Varanasi, India called Kutumb. This year they are continuing their support of Kutumb which means "family" in the local language. Kutumb was begun as a haven for children abandoned at the train station in Varanasi. The children all come from very poor families who cannot support them or are true orphans. They congregate at the train station to beg or sell themselves for sex as a way to survive. Dr. Ashish and his wife, Puja, started the Kutumb orphanage in the Varanasi slum, Nasdesar, as place where these children could live safely and receive healthcare, education and loving home. A couple of years ago, having a vision of removing the children from polluted slum and needing the stability of Kutumb owning its own building, they purchased a small piece of land in a nearby village. Construction has begun on a small campus there and already Dr. Ashish has begun a weekly clinic for the villagers. In addition to providing a safe place for the children Kutumb provides adult education for women living in the slum, a nutritional breakfast and lunch program for children who come to Kutumb for classes but live with their parents, and a free clinic. This year I would like to raise $2000 for this project. Will you please contribute? Any help is still HELP, even if you cannot afford to give as much as you would like. You can make donations at my razoo page here.
