Welcome to the KEEN Greater DC 2014 Fund-an-Athlete Team Page!

We are a group of individuals dedicated to providing free of charge sports and recreation programs for children and young adults with disabilities in the greater Washington, DC area.

What is Fund-An-Athlete?

KEEN programs take place September through June. During the summer months (right now!) KEEN is busy enrolling new children, teens, and young adults, called “KEEN athletes”, into its programs. The organization’s objective has been to increase the amount of young people served by 10% each year. Funds raised by the team will support these new athletes and ensure that KEEN’s 25 programs, serving over 400 athletes, remain free of charge.

You can make a difference in the lives of these very special youth by donating to fund-an-athlete today. Your donation not only provides financial support, but also contributes to the acceptance of youth with disabilities in our local community. Thank you for your generosity.

What is KEEN Greater DC?

It is a volunteer led non-profit organization that provides one-on-one recreational activities to children, teens, and young adults with significant developmental and physical disabilities at no cost to the participant or their family. Programs include swimming, gym-based sports, soccer, tennis, bowling, basketball, tae kwon do and music. With 22 years of experience, KEEN's programs are proven to help participants build self-esteem, improve social skills, increase mobility and gain greater independence.

What makes KEEN Greater DC unique?

  • We accept every child regardless of his/her ability or disability.
  • All KEEN programs are run and managed by committed volunteers.
  • Programs are completely free of charge to the athletes and their families.
