Our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals who suffer from Diabetes and other Cardiovascular related diseases. The foundation will work to acheive its mission by supporting research and programs for patient basic needs. Basic needs include, but are not limited to, medical care, education, patient comfort and advocacy.

On July 11 2014, the Frannie Foundation awarded $10,000 to Rita Kalyani, MD of The Johns Hopkins Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism to support her current research of the following:

  • The relationship of hyperglycemia with accelerated muscle loss over time
  • The relationship of hyperglycemia with lower grip strength
  • The synergistic of effect of diabetes and comormid deression on increased disability
  • Mitochondrial dysfunction in skeletal muscle in persons with versus without diabetes as they age
  • The effects of exercise training on muscle gains in persons with uncontrolled diabetes versus controlled diabetes

Also, with the support of our fundraising efforts, we have also contributed to three health fairs and covered 100% of the cost of hemoglobin A1c screenings. Through these screenings, we have been able to assit more than 30 persons who have been diagnosed with either pre-diabetes or diabetes.

NONE of this could have been possible without the fundrasing efforts of "Team Frannie" and you! Thank you.
