A team for BECKY LEE WOMENS SUPPORT FUND
Fundraise through "Get Tough on Domestic Violence" Tough Mudder Campaign and compete and finish the race on Sunday, October 20, 2013.
Becky’s Fund is incorporating the Tough Mudder race into a fundraising campaign because we believe it’s important to become a Community of One to support and assist survivors. It’s difficult to leave an abusive relationship when one feels all alone, but with the support of our community, one can become a survivor.
Domestic violence is a silent epidemic that affects 1 out of 3 women and 1 out of 6 men and those figures are only the numbers that are reported. Despite a growing array of awareness efforts, too often people see domestic violence as something that will not happen to them or their loved ones. Many people have misconceptions about domestic violence – it is an issue that only affects the poor, the uneducated, or the minorities. And yet, women between the ages of 16 and 24 are the most victimized demographic. As you can see, this is a community problem that needs our attention now.
And Becky's Fund cannot do this work alone. We need the support of donors like you to join in to stand against domestic violence with us and be part of the solution, not the problem, by acknowledging that this critical issue needs our attention now.
Will you join me in ending domestic violence as we compete in Tough Mudder for Becky's Fund by donating to our campaign?
