Cancer isn't fun and neither is running, but that won't stop us from completing the 8K run for Women's Cancer on November 6th in Washington, D.C.!

Whether we are running for a family member (love you mom!), friend, or to train for a marathon, we agree that ovarian cancer patients need personalized treatment options.

Ovarian cancer is rarer than other women's cancers and has not been adequately studied and profiled. The result of this dearth of publicity and medical research is that nearly 75% of ovarian cancer patients will have their cancer reoccur, and nearly 70% of all women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will ultimately die of the disease.

These odds aren't acceptable, especially if a friend or loved one is facing them.

The Clearity Foundation offers hope and personalized treatment plans to patients with woefully few options. Clearity takes a sample of a woman's tumor and runs it through a panel of diagnostic tests to determine which mutations (ex. BRCA1) are present in the cancer. Then, they match the patients with clinical trials and treatments that have shown the best results in women with similar tumor profiles.

Guess what, running a barrage of medical tests is not cheap, and Clearity does not turn away the uninsured or the struggling-to-meet-insurance-copays. Every dollar of your support will be donated to the foundation. Clearity is run largely by volunteers, and all of its administrative overhead is underwritten by its founders. So 100% of the money Clearity receives from our run will go towards helping ovarian cancer patients optimize their treatment outcomes. If that isn't worth running for, I don't know what is!
