The SueB 5K Walk/Run supports the life changing work of the WCA and encourages healthy relationships and healthy families in the Treasure Valley community.

Three incredible women approached the WCA eight years ago, with a desire to bring awareness to domestic abuse, and honor the memory of their sister and best friend, Susan B. Newby. The name "SueB" was chosen by the founders of the race, Marjorie Sente, Teresa Andrew, and Leslie Hempe. Their wish: to raise funds an awareness for the Women's and Children's Alliance.

"Don't wait until your sister, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault. Step forward now and make an invesment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence." - Marjorie Sente, SueB's sister.

Last year there were 4,447 calls related to domestic abuse, sexual assault and child abuse in 2015 (Ada County Sheriff’s Office, 2016).

First responders from the Ada County Paramedics respond to a battery call at least once every single day; with an average of three or more battery calls involving strangulation each week (Ada County Paramedics, 2016)

The WCA values their relationship with First Responders in the Treasure Valley, especially the SueB parternship with the Ada County Paramedics Employees Association.
