A team for ST LOUIS BEREAVEMENT CENTER FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Sponsor One is a fundraising effort to support grieving children through Annie's Hope summer camps
Annie's Hope - The Bereavement Center for Kids
Annie's Hope is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides comprehensive support to children, teens, and their families who are grieving the death of someone significant. All programs of Annie's Hope are funded by grants and donations, which allows them to be offered to families free of charge.
Every summer, Annie's Hope hosts two - 5 day/4 night, overnight camps. Camp Courage is for kids ages 6-11 and Camp Erin - St. Louis is for kids ages 12-18. These are very special camps...every camper has a broken heart because they are grieving the death of someone they love. Every camper feels sadness, but wants to feel joy. Every camper feels alone, but wants to feel connected. Every camper feels fear, yet wants to feel hope.
Annie's Hope strives to accept a total of 175 grieving children to camp. With your help we can support campers and give them the opportunity to receive grief support, completely free of charge, in their time of need.
Below, a 16 year old camper describes the impact of Camp Erin after the death of his father:
“I did not think going into this that Camp Erin would be fun and helpful. I went in thinking this would be a total waste of time. But I was completely wrong, this camp helped me in so many ways. I just moved to St. Louis and I had no friends; now I have many. It also helped me open up and trust others with my grief. The counselors are great; they understand what I’m going through and are always willing to listen.”
Camp would not be possible without the amazing Camp Counselors who volunteer weeks of their time to support grieving kids. Every kid who comes to camp will have a story similar to the one above. Annie's Hope understands the powerful impact that our Camp Counselors have on the campers, and on the success of camp. We are incredibly grateful!
Along with their family and friends, we are challenging each of our Camp Counselors to raise $750 to Sponsor One camper.
