Running for Those Who Wander

$0 0

Chicago and St. Luois Marathon runners from the Heartland Road Runners & Walkers Club (HRRWC) and others raising money for those who wander in Quincy/Adams County, IL to benefit the local Project Lifesaver Program.

Running for Those Who Wander

Project Lifesaver provides peace of mind to care givers of those who wander due to Alzheimer's, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome, Brain Trauma and other related diseases. Project Lifesaver uses Radio Telemetry to track these individuals by placing a battery powered water resistant bracelet on their wrist or ankle. They are assigned a unique radio frequency in the 216 MHz FM band and if they wander they can be tracked using a directional antenna and a receiver. The batteries and bands are changed once per month by representatives from the Quincy Police Department or Adams County Sheriff's Department and caregivers call 911 if their loved one wanders. Project Lifesaver Nationwide has had over 2500 searches with a 100 percent success rate and an average search time of under 30 minutes.
