Racing for Syrian Refugees
A team for Wider Church Ministries
"Racing for Syrian Refugees" a team to help the undefined...
I'm participating in a marathon run to support "Racing for Syrian Refugees", a relief program of the United Church of Christ, Wider Church Ministries.
I hope you will support me, or even join me in efforts to raise awareness and money.
This project is important to me as I want to use an activity I enjoy, to help others have a better life, lending a purpose to something that also brings me pleasure.
Below is a bit about the crisis. Thanks in advance for your support.
The Syria crisis dates back to 2011. Today, half the population has been displaced.
The United Church of Christ, through One Great Hour of Sharing is Supporting the Syrian Refugee Relief Efforts Within the United States by helping with emergency needs, and by welcoming refugee families as they arrive. In the Middle East, the UCC continues to provide support through long and deep relationships with churches and other worldwide church humanitarian organizations.
Within Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, the UCC is supporting members of the ACT Alliance, particularly the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and the Department of Service for Palestinian Refugees (DSPR) by providing emergency aid, food, non-food items, water and sanitation, health awareness, health-care, education, livelihoods, capacity building, community resilience, advocacy, vocational training and psychological support.
Within Syria, the UCC is working with the Forum for Development, Culture, and Dialogue (FDCD) to provide nutritional needs, that will strengthen families’ food security, provide basic hygiene items.
