Playworks transforms schools by providing play and physical activity at recess and throughout the school day. Through our on-site direct service and trainer-led professional development workshops, Playworks restores valuable teaching time, reduces bullying, increases physical activity and improves the school and learning environment.

The benefits of the Playworks formula are not confined to the playground, but follow children as they come inside and return to their classrooms. After a recess with a positive play experience, they settle quickly in their seats and are ready and eager to learn.

The model is simple--it’s a partnership with you, the school, and a Playworks coach.

Your financial support helps train AmeriCorps volunteers to be full-time coaches in low-income schools. Those coaches in turn supervise, teach, and empower children, as young as kindergarten, about how to play with each other in fun and respectful ways.

As we come to the end of the school year, we want to make sure that we can continue making the lives of every young person better.

Here in San Francisco, we are 97% of the way towards meeting all of our expenses in 24 schools by the end of the 2012-13 school year. With less than two weeks to go, we are just $15,000 short.

But you can help us achieve 100% of our goal and ensure that Playworks can be in all our schools again next year.

A gift of $45 to $125 will help ensure that every Playworks school can be a safer place for every child in that school.

As an additional appeal...the Playworks San Francisco board has committed to matching the first $5,000 raised in this final push!

Please help us reach our goal by June 30th!
