Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that improves school climate, reduces bullying and increases student engagement in school through play and physical activity. Through on-site direct service, Playworks teaches students to resolve their own conflicts that arise at recess and carry over to the classroom, restoring valuable teaching and learning time. Recess becomes a safe, fun and inclusive time that gets students active and engaged so they can return to the classroom focused and ready to learn.

The 2013-2014 school year will mark the 8th year of Playworks Massachusetts. This year Playworks will energize education for 15,000 students from 32 low-income elementary schools in Boston and Lawrence. Playworks costs $62,000 to operate programming at one school for an entire year and the partner shcool pays approximately 47% ($27,000).

The Playworks Massachusetts Board of Directors aims to raise $45,000 during the share the love of play campaign, the amount it costs for three Playworks Coaches in three different schools. Consider making a donation to support the power of play and spread the love of play to your friends and family. Your support will help us succeed in this challenging economy.
