A team for OAK POINTE CHURCH MISSION TRIPS
Join us as we run/walk in the 2015 Detroit Free Press Talmer Bank Marathon and raise money to provide clean water fo the people of Zambia!
Zambia is one of the poorest nations in the world. Malnutrition, malaria and waterborne diseases are serious threats to the people. The majority of Zambians outside the city limits have no access to clean water. Their drinking water is often polluted by dead animals upstream and waste matter present as a result of using the water as a toilet. Diseases like malaria spread rapidly, infecting and killing men, women and children.
Thankfully, there is a solution. We work with Seeds of Hope to turn this unsanitary water into clean water through filters. Made of concrete, sand & gravel, these are long-term solutions that are 95% effective after the first month of use, and 99.9% effective after that. Please consider joining us in this life-saving effort. A gift of $80 will provide a Zambian family with clean water for the rest of their lives! Additionally, donations will help to cover the cost of bug nets which will prevent the spread of malaria.
As Americans, we have been blessed with so much, and we live relatively comfortable lives. We need to do what we can to help those in despair. God even instructs us to aid the poor and not neglect the easy to overlook: “Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had excess pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it” (Ezekiel 16:49-50).
Be part of the amazing things that God is doing in the nation of Zambia. Thank you for considering this mission!
