Nashville Fair Food
A team for STUDENT FARMWORKER ALLIANCE INC
Nashville Fair Food has a goal to raise $1,000 dollars to travel to support the Coalition of Immokalee Workers' action in Florida.
Get us to Florida to support Fair Food!
A New Day In The Fields: the Coalition of Immokalee Workers' Campaign for Fair Food has led to 12 corporate buyers of Florida tomatoes joining the Fair Food Program with enforceable human rights standards in the fields and a penny-per-pound increase in workers' pay.
Most recently, Walmart joined the Fair Food Program - the millions and millions more pounds of tomatoes purchased by Walmart now will be in the tomato market with a Fair Food Code of Conduct enforced by the Sarasota, FL-based Fair Food Standards Council.
But Publix - the "neighborhood grocer" of many in Nashville, throughout the Southeast, and in Florida - has so far refused to join the Fair Food Program. Nashville consumer allies (including Publix customers!), people of faith, and students will caravan to Publix headquarters in Florida to stand in support of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and will call on Publix to do the right thing -- with your help!
