This team consists of people that are raising $1,000 (or more) each for Kimbilio Project. This will go to the purchase of 10 or more acres of land in Kenya where the orphanage will be built! These funds will also help us physically lay the foundation of the orphanage. Every person who donates to this phase of Kimbilio Project will have their name written on the physical foundation of the orphanage. You will receive updates throughout this phase and once the foundation is laid you will receive a picture of the land, the foundation, and your name in the foundation.

About Kimbilio Project:

There are currently over 147 million orphans in the world, 2.6 million of those are in Kenya. These children are left in hospitals, police stations, on the side of the road, or even garbage dumps. They may end up living on the streets, forced into crime, violence, sex, and drugs. Children with disabilities in Kenya are often forgotten, seen as cursed, and they do not receive proper care. These children with disabilities are typically abused, left in rooms by themselves, or even forced to sit in holes. You are probably thinking, “Well those are just numbers.” However, when numbers become names, faces, stories, smiles, laughs, hurt, and pain; they are truly no longer numbers!

We started Kimbilio because we see these statistics and know their stories and how God calls us to care for orphans (James 1:27, Isaiah 1:17). Kimbilio is a Christ-centered, holistic approach to orphan care and the discipleship of those who care for orphans. Kimbilio is the Swahili word for refuge.

We will provide a refuge, safe place, shelter, and place away from the enemy for these children. We will be caring for, raising up, and discipling a new generation of children in Kenya who will be strong leaders and warriors for Christ - to rebuild their communities while bringing glory to the name of Jesus.

We will be caring for these children holistically (spiritually, physically, emotionally, cognitively, socially) with the child development model we created. We will also partner with other orphanages in Kenya to help them care for orphans in this same way, because many of the orphanages in Kenya only care for the child physically. Kimbilio will have a special place for children with disabilities. One day we hope to have seminars, about the Christ-centered holistic approach, at Kimbilio for people who work at children’s homes in Kenya and all over Africa.

When thinking about Kimbilio think CARE. C for Children, so it will be fun, open, and kids can experience freedom. A for Accessible, so it will accessible for children with disabilities. R for Refuge, we will a place of safety and beauty, a true refuge for these children. E for Experiential, we will be able to develop environments where the kids can experience things in order to learn.
