The Jewish Meditation Center (JMC) is a home for Jewish meditation in New York City and beyond: a thriving community of meditators and spiritual leaders who are transforming the world through the cultivation of awareness, compassion, and Jewish wisdom. We are building a replicable model of a grassroots, community-led Jewish Meditation Center, based on the belief that truly sustainable tikkun olam, repairing the world, happens from the inside out.

WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING ON RAZOO?

The JMC is turning 3 years old this August, and our start-up funding has just ended. We are at a crossroads and we will not be able to continue after September without your investment! The JMC community is committed to grassroots leadership and financial sustainability, and so we're asking at least 20 JMC-ers to raise $3,000 each to allow the JMC to continue. Thanks for all of your support!

Team members who raise at least $3,000 each will be Founding Members of the JMC. Besides knowing that they saved the JMC, one of the most inspiring and innovative Jewish nonprofits in North America (as per Slingshot), Founding Members will be honored at this year's Beer, Jews, & Enlightenment Party and on our website, and get lots of exciting perks including an exclusive JMC retreat, a very special celebration, swag, and more.

WHAT DOES THE JMC DO?

Our work reaches thousands both locally and nationally through our programs:

  • Weekly sitting meditation led by trained community members who offer kavanot (intentions) for meditation practice based on the weekly Torah portion and guide meaningful discussions among participants. Each week’s kavanah is posted on the JMC blog so that JMC-ers all over the world can have a taste of Jewish meditation every week.
  • World renown guest teachers
  • Holiday preparation workshops ("Freeing Your Inner Pharaoh"),
  • Holiday resources and events (Tu B'Shvat Seder, Yom Kippur sits)
  • Social events ("Beer, Jews, & Enlightenment" - drinking meditaitons at a local outdoor beer garden and Walking Meditation Across the Brooklyn Bridge)
  • Meditation retreats (Getting Grounded: jewish Meditation on the Farm)
  • Meditation leader trainings
  • Workshops at synagogues, universities, religious schools, and oher institutions and organizations throughout the country!
  • And more! Check us out on our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages.

OUR TAX-EXEMPT STATUS
The JMC is fiscally sponsored by FJC, a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Public Charity and a Foundation of Philanthropic Funds. As such, all donations and gifts made to FJC that are designated for the JMC are tax-deductible donations to the extent allowed by United States law.

Note: The Razoo service allows us to process credit card donations and fundraise more efficiently. Each donation comes to us after a 2.9% fee is taken for this service.
