Georgetown Men of Strength is a campus organization committed to engaging college and university men in preventing violence against women, developing and supporting healthy masculinity, and sustainably organizing to create campuses and cultures free from violence. Georgetown Men of Strength accomplishes these goals by supporting campus student groups, faculty and staff on college campuses, and men and women who are working to end violence against women.

To honor our roots, foster the next generation of Men of Strength, and empower young men throughout Washington, DC, this month we will be taking part in an online fundraiser and contest for Men of Strength college groups across the nation. Donations collected during the month of February will benefit Men Can Stop Rape, our national parent non-profit, with a portion of the money we raise to directly benefit The Men of Strength (MOST) Club in Washington, DC. Men Can Stop Rape’s MOST Club is the premier primary prevention program for male youth in the country. The MOST Club provides thousands of middle and high school age men with a structured and supportive space to learn about healthy masculinity and translate learning into community leadership.

Identified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control as among the top gender violence prevention programs in the country, the MOST Club is currently serving youth at over 100 sites across the country. MOST Club members have become spokespersons for healthy masculinity and prevention in their schools and the culture at large, speaking at events put on by the United Nations and Liz Claiborne, to name a few. In addition, Vital Voices (cofounded by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton) recognized us as “one of the most innovative prevention programs in the United States.”

Men Can Stop Rape has reached over 2 million youth and professionals with their award-winning MOST Club and related public awareness campaigns.

And we need your help to continue to sustain Men Can Stop Rape’s work in the District of Columbia. This school year, we are excited to report that Men Can Stop Rape will be bringing MOST Club programming to every public middle and high school in the District of Columbia Public School system. But we can’t stop there. Men Can Stop Rape seeks to expand Campus Men of Strength to many more colleges and universities across the country. The best way to do this is to create continuity between high school and campus clubs and empower graduating high school MOST Club members to establish their own campus Men of Strength groups at their institutions of higher learning.

Please show your strength by donating to Men Can Stop Rape and the Men of Strength (MOST) Club during Teen Dating Violence Month in February – the perfect time to support young men in middle school and high school programs as they learn to use their strength to create cultures free from violence and work with their peers to become better allies and agents of change within their schools and communities.
