Our Mission

The Friday Night Supper Program has served dinner to Boston’s homeless, low income and disadvantaged population every Friday night since 1984; that’s 29 years of serving a delicious and nutritious meal to Boston's hungry and most in need. What makes Friday Night Supper unique? Not only are we focused on serving our guests a wonderful meal each week, it is important to us to serve it in an a safe environment that fosters community and respect.

Our program is for the community, run by the community. Besides two paid staff members and an unpaid Board, Friday Night Supper is operated by its volunteers. These dedicated volunteers return every Friday to show our guests genuine hospitality, and to make sure our meal is served every week.

Every year, Friday Night Supper provides roughly 8,000 meals to its guests. These meals include two holiday dinners when we serve a full course thanksgiving meal and Holiday roast beef. Another way we serve our guests is by providing a Clothing Closet, which is a recent addition to Friday Night Supper Program. Each week the Clothing Closet opens it’s doors to provide guests with necessities that include clothing, shoes, socks, underwear and toiletries. Although it is not the main focus of our program, we cater to the essential and emergency needs of our guests, particularly in the winter months.

Friday Night Supper’s overall mission is to help provide food security to those individuals that find themselves in need, while doing so in a hospitable, safe environment.
