Over the past several years, teams of Gordon College students have developed a relationship with La Iglesia Bautista Christo para las Naciones, a Haitian church in the Dominican Republic. This year, we are again planning a trip to continue our relationships and the work that was previously started. In addition to partnering with our brothers and sisters in Christ through service, we hope to learn about their unique situation as Haitian immigrants in the DR, and the effects that our decisions in the United States have upon their lives.

From March 6 to16, we will travel to the Dominican Republic to serve and learn alongside Haitians and Dominicans. We will work on construction projects, teach English, and help in Colegio Moriah, the school for Haitian-Dominican children run by the church. We will have the opportunity to visit Conocado, a fair trade cocoa cooperative, to learn about fair trade and its effects on communities, and will have the opportunity to gain perspective on U.S.-Caribbean relations through meeting with U.S. Embassy government officials.

The cost of the trip is $1,500 per person to cover the cost of travel, food and housing. We would like to ask for your help in raising this money and would appreciate your gift in any amount. We hope to raise all the funds by February 6.

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers leading up to and throughout the duration of our trip. We specifically ask that you pray for safe travels, team unity, the church we will be working with, and for the Lord to stretch and teach all who are involved.
