GLOBAL

HCN serves children and families from around the world who find themselves in Northern California

FREE STANDING

With committed communities by their side, all families can be free-standing.

Free-standing homeless families are empowered with the vitality of unconditional love and support for their overall well-being.

CONSCIOUSNESS

The Climb for Consciousness will create awareness, increase collective responsibility, and foster attitudes of “I can help”. It will empower us to work together and value ALL our children.

HCN’s Vision

HCN’s vision continues to evolve and expand with each connection, as we build each relationship, as we learn from each child, and deepen our commitment to eradicating homelessness.

With hearts wide open, we walk hand-in-hand with families through the mental health concerns, family struggles, and parent/child dynamics that are epidemic among all families, and even more so among families with few resources. From those enlightening experiences, we emerge stronger, clearer, and better equipped to exercise loving, social-justice focused clinical skills in the life-inspiring art of healing.

April’s Climb for Consciousness Vision

The Climb for Consciousness will attract global attention to our vision. Mt Kilimanjaro is the world’s largest free-standing mountain. As we ascend this mountain we will draw attention to homeless children and their families throughout the world. We will engage the world’s attention in our goal of making these children and their families free-standing.

FUNDING THE VISION

HCN uses the power of the affirmative to address and eradicate the effects of trauma and homelessness. The Climb for Consciousness campaign will raise funds for the purpose of taking HCN’s mission to new heights. This campaign is a movement to empower families.

We need your support! We would like to invite you to raise consciousness of homelessness with a donation to Homeless Children's Network’s campaign Climb for Consciousness: a movement to empower homeless children and families. The Climb for Consciousness will create awareness, increase collective responsibility, and foster attitudes of “I can help”. It will empower us to work together and value ALL our children.

Because of donations from people like you…

Xavier, a little boy age four, surviving months of family violence and then finding himself homeless, has been able to gain trust again in people close to him. He is even able to allow himself to hug again!

Rochelle, a mother of five has learned budgeting skills and has been able to begin saving money on a monthly basis. It hasn’t been easy but she knows these financial skills will help her family to maintain their new housing! She has a renewed sense of hope and confidence!

James, Eva’s dad, has been able to acknowledge his problems with alcohol and has finally entered a treatment program. Mom, Eva, and James are all learning to understand how they were impacted by this addiction and the way it led to their experiences on the street. They are practicing new, healthier ways to be a family now that they are housed!

THEY COUNT ON US. WE’RE COUNTING ON YOU.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

At HCN we think big. So I ask you, what is bigger than climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro? This August HCN’s Executive Director, April Silas, will embark on a 9-day trek climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. As she ascends the world's largest free-standing mountain she will engage the world's attention in HCN’s goal of making homeless children and their families free-standing. As this campaign is rolling out the excitement and energy from everyone we speak with has been electric! Thanks to everyone for their support! We will keep you updated on the campaign, April’s training and upcoming events. Go team HCN! -Elisabeth
