Cisco's Byte Back Fundraising Team
A team for BYTE BACK
A team to help Byte Back bridge the digital divide.
I am participating in a fundraising challenge for a great technology education nonprofit this year, and I need your support.
Byte Back’s mission is to improve economic opportunity by providing computer training and employment readiness skills for low-income residents of the Washington D.C. area. For most people, it’s easy to take technology for granted. Low-income families and individuals often lack the computer literacy and technology access to take advantage of the job resources, educational benefits, and news and information available online. Every year, it’s harder to earn a living wage without basic computer literacy.
Byte Back is working to bridge this “digital divide.” They offer courses in basic computer skills and office software as well as advanced certification programs. Most of their classes are free to low-income students, and they offer specialized curriculum geared towards seniors, low-literacy learners, and American Sign Language and Spanish speakers. They also help students write resumes, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews.

I’m invested in this program. I believe in Byte Back’s mission and the work they are doing in our community.
Unfortunately, this has been a tough year for Byte Back. Due to the difficult economic climate and a number of deep government cuts, the organization is faced with an urgent challenge as they plan for their winter courses.
Byte Back is working to raise $15,000 by its birthday on October 15 to ensure they have the resources to continue providing these critical services.
That’s where you come in. As a community, we cannot afford to lose this valuable programming.
By giving $15 to Byte Back’s Get 15 to Give $15 Friend-raising Challenge, you show Byte Back’s students that their voices count, their ideas are valuable and their dreams are achievable.
Think of all the things you can buy for $15 (a forgettable lunch, a ticket to a mediocre movie, a paperback you’ll only read once) that aren’t nearly as rewarding as donating $15 to allow a student to experience the amazing potential of technology for the first time.
