This year, St. Croix Hospice is proud to be supporting a community effort to build a pediatric hospice home in Minnesota to serve families with children that are affected by a life-threatening illness. The home, not affiliated with St. Croix Hospice, is called Crescent Cove (formerly Children’s Lighthouse of MN) and will be located in the Minnesota Twin Cities area. There are currently only three pediatric hospice homes in the ENTIRE United States and Crescent Cove would be the fourth.

There are more than 9,000 children living with a life-threatening condition in Minnesota alone. These children have no choice but to spend their final days of life in hospitals or at home with limited resources or support due to lack of funding for pediatric end-of-life care. Moreover, hospitals and adult hospice programs are not equipped to handle the care and unique counseling needs of these families whose kids have limited life expectancies. Crescent Cove: A Place of Respite for Kids and Families aspires to be that home-away-from-home for these families and plans to provide respite, play-filled kid-specific therapies, medical care, and support and compassion at the end of a beloved child’s life.

All funds raised through this campaign will go to build the hospice house, equipment, supplies, and overall counseling support for these precious children and their families.

A donation of:

$25-50 goes towards providing a massage/healing touch session for a child

* $100-$150 goes towards providing a massage/healing touch session for a whole family (services that will one day be provided at our respite and hospice home, but that are now being provided at the families home)

* $150-$200 - goes towards a meal and a comfort basket with gift cards delivered to a family caring for a child with a life-threatening condition

* $200-$500 goes towards covering the clinical care providers caring for a child and family for one night

We hope that you will feel compelled to join St. Croix Hospice employees/family/and friends in championing this cause to enhance quality of life at the end-of-life for the Midwest’s most precious population – our children.

“We need a comfortable place where we can just BE – whether we are a kid, a mom, a dad, a sibling or grandparent.” ~ Maryah Tift, 1994-2010
