The purpose of this walk is to promote awareness and acceptance of people with developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, Autism, Asperger’s, Spina Bifida, Fragile X and other developmental disabilities. It is also an opportunity for Arc Midstate to raise funds that enable us to continue our services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. The funds raised in 2011 helped Arc Midstate provide the following services:

Resources…provided to over 1200 people via community events, our lending resource library, newsletters, phone, and our website.

Advocacy…including town hall meetings and civic engagement activities touching over 300 individuals and families.

Connections…for more than 300 people who participated in family support activities including parent support groups, Sibsday events, Opening Doors, and Pilot Parents.

Educational Opportunities…for over 2,000 people who participated in training opportunities such as Project Exceptional, Fetal Alcohol Prevention/Education, Get Set Training for Special Education Success, and the regional providers conference.
