What Is the Handleman Walk for Autism?

The WALK is a fun family event with: Live music, food, moon bouncing, face painting, balloon creations, games, a silent auction and more in a beautiful garden on Rutgers Campus. The event raises funds for children and adults with autism and celebrates the life’s work of autism pioneer Dr. Jan Handleman (1951-2008). It is both an important fundraiser and a great day of family fun.

All are welcome and all get a water bottle for participation!

Where Do the Proceeds From the Walk Go?

All proceeds from the walk go to the parent organization Douglass Organization for Occupational and Related Educational Services (DOORS) associated with the esteemed Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center (DDDC) in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

What Is DOORS?

DOORS is a parent-run organization associated with the highly esteemed Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center in New Brunswick, NJ. DOORS provides resources to help children and adults with autism thrive and grow including: Access to quality care from professionals, recreational opportunities to have fun with peers and skill building programs to maximize independence.

Although these programs are essential to the students of the DDDC, they are often not covered by traditional funding. That's where you can help - by supporting the Handleman Walk for Autism, you are supporting these programs at the DDDC. All donations go to the DDDC, a 501(c)3 organization.

How Can I Help?

The success of the walk fundraiser depends on you. Please consider committing to walk as an individual or team to support autism! Tell everyone you know to join the walk!

Support the Walk with Stella & Dot or Bracelet Purchase

You can also support the Walk and the DDDC with a jewelry purchase, including a special edition autism awareness bracelet! A portion of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to the Walk, benefitting the DDDC. Funds will be donated from any sales that occur from now until November 15, 2015.
