Non-profit organisation dedicated to helping the needy and neglected in Ethiopia
Save Lives is a registered NGO dedicated to improving the lives of the needy and vulnerable in Ethiopia, and provides a comprehensive range of care programmes targeted at women, children and local youth groups. Over the last three years, Save Lives’ care programmes have touched more than 123,000 people.
Save Lives was established by seven Ethiopians from diverse professional backgrounds, comprising two economists, two accountants, a doctor, a public health officer and a sociologist. The Principal Founder and Executive Director, Mrs. Frehiwot Alebachew, is supported by 15 professional staff and 250 trained community volunteers who provide a tightly integrated range of education and community outreach programmes, voluntary counselling and testing services, as well as physical, social and spiritual care to those affected or infected by HIV/AIDS. Save Lives was founded in early 2002 and operates out of Addis Ababa.
