My goal is to raise $600 for my Alternative Winter Break trip to Rishon Letzion, Israel
After getting the chance to live in Israel for a year after high school and experience the culture, I always knew I wanted to be able to give back to the country that gave so much to me. Throughout my year there, I got to spend a lot of time focusing on my Jewish religion and hone in on some of the core Jewish values. One value that I constantly saw in every city and every community that I visited was giving.
Now, I have been given an amazing opportunity to go back to Israel this time not to focus on my personal growth but to focus on the growth of my fellow people. This January, I will be going on an Alternative Winter Break trip with a group of Jewish, University of Maryland students to Rishon Letzion, to help better the living situation for the Ethiopian community there. We are specifically working through the Yahel Israel Service Learning Program that works to bring participants, who want to create social change, to Israel. Not only are we physically going to be working with the civilians, but also we will be living with them for a period of ten days where we will be exchanging experiences and getting the chance to learn about each other’s cultures.
As many of you may know there is currently a war going on in Israel. Almost every city is a target to rockets, bombs, and violence at this point and this community in Rishon Letzion is no exception. This reality is heart-breaking and terrifying and something that nobody be it an adult or child should have to experience. This is why the people of Rishon Letzion and Israel at large need our help more than ever.
Every donation counts, so thank you for your support!
