OMSI is a trailhead that connects our future leaders, scientists, engineers, and tradespeople to learning and skill-building opportunities.
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is a nationally-renowned science education leader, connecting the public with scientific information and resources around current and relevant topics. Our strength lies in our organizational commitment to our communities, providing a variety of stimulating on- and off-site experiences surrounding informal science education and creating a population of engaged, life-long learners. Visitors to OMSI can climb inside a NASA space capsule, build an aqueduct, program a robot, or experience an earthquake. In OMSI labs, visitors can create their own watershed, design virtual cars, and learn how holograms are created. Special attractions such as the Kendall Planetarium, the Empirical Theater, and the USS Blueback submarine invite explorations of topics ranging from space science to archaeology to sonar navigation. Outdoor programs allow participants to backpack in the Oregon wilderness and the Canadian Rockies, explore the Oregon coast, track animals in the desert, and investigate fossil beds. OMSI’s programs invite students, families, and adults to engage with science and technology through a wealth of hands-on experiences.
