I am participating in the 2013 Country Music Full/Half Marathon to raise awareness and scholarship support for Barefoot Republic Camp.
In June of 2012 I had the privilege of spending a week volunteering as a Counselor with Barefoot Republic Camp. Let me tell you, I've never seen the kingdom of Heaven so clearly visible as in the six days I was at Barefoot - campers, counselors and staff, all from different cultural, economic and faith backrounds, all coming together to love each other and be accepted as children of God. During the week I was there, I was given the opportunity to share my love of the outdoors, rock climbing and music with campers and in doing so, to share my story with them. I had open, honest conversations with campers about faith, grace, relationships and most importantly about the amazing, unending love of God. It was truly one of the best weeks of my life.
I was so moved by my experience at the camp that I volunteered to serve on Barefoot's Programming Committee this year, and am now training to run the Country Music 1/2 Marathon to help raise money for their scholarship fund. Over 75% of the campers that attend Barefoot Republic Camp receive some sort of financial assistance to attend the camp. By sponsoring me, you help kids have a positive, life-changing experience. Every donation helps!
We are changing a child’s life by providing scholarship support for nearly 500 youth in need of financial assistance to attend Barefoot Republic Camp each summer through an event called Run Barefoot.
Run Barefoot is a team of runners and walkers uniting to support the mission and vision of Barefoot Republic Camp. Participants are comprised of volunteers, supporters, and friends that represent various churches, schools, corporations and organizations in middle-Tennessee and beyond that compete with and against each other in the Country Music Marathon’s half and full marathon.
Each participant commits to raising $1,000 in scholarship support to send deserving kids to camp.
