Merrick Community Services: dedicated to helping the most vulnerable & underserved populations on Saint Paul's East Side for over 100 years.
Focused on helping people struggling with poverty and low-wages on Saint Paul's East Side, Merrick Community Services offers food shelves, meals on wheels delivery, senior chore assistance, youth development programming, employment navigation and career training, and family advocacy for families struggling with poverty. Merrick Community Services’ mission is to improve the lives of the residents of Saint Paul’s East Side by empowering individuals, strengthening families, and promoting their independence.
Last year, community donations helped Merrick to make the following impacts on the East Side of Saint Paul:
- Senior Independence Program – 947 individuals served through Merrick’s Meals on Wheels, Brown Bags Healthy Grocery Drop-off, Chore Assistance Program, Referral Services, and Senior Health and Well-Being Group.
- Employment Services – 1,875 individuals served through the East Side Job Bank, Environmental and Construction Workers Training Program, and Highway Heavy Occupations Training.
- Family & Youth Services – 1,048 individuals served through Family Case Management, Parenting Education and Groups, and Youth After-school and Summer Programming. 1,950 children in low-income received holiday gifts at our annual toy give-a-way.
- Food Shelf – 8,602 individuals served through a Food Shelf site, mobile food shelves, and a summer produce give-a-way.
