Many people run races to raise money for charity. I grow mustaches. I am using this God-given gift to benefit the Boys’ Club of New York.
To raise money for the Boys Club of New York while promoting handsomeness through mustache growth: this is the dual mandate of the Stern School of Business's Mustache May. In its inaugural year, 2009, Mustache May participants at Stern raised over $8,000 for the Boys Club of New York. Last year, over 60 participants came together to raise more than $17,000. By sponsoring the mustache I will be growing for the next couple weeks, you will be supporting this 136-year old not-for-profit institution that serves over 4,400 boys in the New York area each year. By providing after school programs and services to promote education, athletics, the arts, and character development, the Boys’ Club to combats the poor on-time graduation rates in NYC and provides a pathway for members to develop into men. This year’s fundraiser is targeted at supporting the vital educational initiatives of the club, including its After-School Tutoring, Learning Center, and SAT/SSAT Preparatory programs. This effort represents the intersection of two great things: charitable donations to a great organization, and mustaches. Please do the right thing...it's for the kids.
