Friends of Animals Utah is dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters and adopting them into loving homes.
Friends of Animals Utah (FOAU) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1990 by a very dedicated group of volunteers committed to finding loving homes for animals in need. While our mission of dog and cat rescue and adoption has remained steady for all these years, we have expanded the services offered to the community to include the Purple Paw Project (sheltering pets for those fleeing abusive situations) and School Education Outreach (teaching pet responsibility in local schools). In addition, we fund “trap-neuter-release” efforts for feral cats and are part of the No Kill Utah coalition.
FOAU’s staff visits animal shelters throughout northern Utah every week and other locations as needs arise to rescue healthy adoptable cats and dogs. Many of these pets are saved from euthanasia. The animals in our program come to us for a variety of reasons from abandonment and owner surrender to rescue from abusive situations.
Each cat and dog makes its first stop at the FOAU Rescue & Rehabilitation Ranch in Peoa, UT for a thorough health and behavior assessment, vaccinations, microchip, spaying/neutering, supervised play and behavior training. The 16,000 square foot Ranch, made possible by ongoing, generous donations from our supporters, opened in 2010 and houses a fully operational vet suite, kennels and play areas, an education center and staff offices.
Once deemed adoptable, cats and dogs enter the retail program at the Furburbia Adoption Center located in the Tanger Outlet Mall in Park City, UT. Next, they wiggle their way into caring hearts and homes.
To date, it has been possible to place over 13,000 pets with the special commitment of our donors, volunteers and staff. Your donation will help us save more lives and support No Kill Utah. Visit our Furburbia page on Facebook to see the beautiful lives we save with your generous help.
