I am running the Marine Corps Marathon in October and fundraising for the Burma Humanitarian Mission!
The Short Story:
I'm running the Marine Corps Marathon on October 28th, 2012 in my new home of Washington, DC and raising money for the Burma Humanitarian Mission, a non-profit that seeks to educate and provide basic medication for the Southeastern Asia country.
The Longer (and obviously far more interesting) Story:
As many of you know, this has been a hugely transitional year for me...okay, more like a crazy, chaotic, psycho six months of change. Having spent the last several years finding my mojo and working on myself inside and out, I finally decided to leave New York and move to DC on a whim and a "good feeling".
God is so good and His blessings have proven to be endless and abundant during this incredible time for me. I have never been more inspired to push myself farther mentally, professionally, spiritually, and now physically. This summer, I decided that I wanted to give myself a nice, ambitious challenge to celebrate my 25th birthday - and what could be more challenging than having solid Crystal-time for 26.2 miles?!
That being said, I also got on board with an incredible non-profit, the Burma Humanitarian Mission (http://www.burmamission.org), to raise money for their backpack medics who administer medicine and educate the impoverished and sickly nation of Burma.
In the spirit of self-renewal, growth, change, and the general celebration of health and life, please consider donating to my run for Burma.
-Each $1 buys 40 doses of medicine for these medics.
-$5 will cure a pregnant woman of malaria – saving 2 lives.
-$25 will buy enough penicillin for one year that will treat 2,000 people.
Lastly, I would like to invite you to DC the weekend of October 28th to experience the Marine Corps Marathon and come over to my place in Arlington for some serious carbs (including the liquid kind) following my finish. Plan on a 2:00PM party start.
As always, thank you so much for being an awesome support system of inspiring friends and family.
