Cops Walk is a 2 day, 25 mile walk on October 9th & 10th, 2010 to help those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
This year marks my fourth year as a Cops Walk participant. At the end of the weekend, I will have walked 100 miles in Dave's memory and raised some much needed funds for COPS. It is my way of giving back and supporting all the survivors as they have supported me and my family through the hardest times in our lives. It is a time every year where I can enjoy the peacefulness of the trail, reflect on the past years and on the future ones, laugh and grieve, and hopefully make a difference in someone else's life.
I am always so honored to meet other survivors and supporters. They are the strongest people. Its almost like their lost loved one left some strength and courage behind to help them rebuild their lives and also help others. I am amazed at the kindness I experience each year. It is safe to enjoy myself one minute and cry the next. We all understand.
Since Dave died, my goal is to make a difference in some way that honors his values and his love of life and its challenges. I cannot do what Dave did, but I find ways to be a part of his community, my community, and the national community to honor him.
COPS Walk is a challenge each year and a great accomplishment both physically and emotionally. I hope you will help me reach my fundraising goal for COPS this year so we can all make a difference in the lives of survivors.
