Our Mission: To provide individuals and families with advocacy and services to meet their basic needs so they may live in dignity.

Our Vision: A community in which each person envisions a future with hope.

Community Advocates was founded by Ramon Wagner in September 1976 as a small agency on Milwaukee's northwest side. His goal was to provide basic life-sustaining services for Milwaukee's neediest individuals and families until they were able to move forward on their own. His intention remains our core value as the agency evolves to meet the complex needs of our community.

Our focus areas include more than 40 programs addressing homelessness, mental health, healthcare services, disabilities advocacy, case management and basic needs, life-saving emergency shelter services, a public policy institute, support for victims of domestic violence, and batterer's prevention programs provided by the Milwaukee Women's Center, a division of Community Advocates.

Additionally, Community Advocates is the lead agency and facilitator of the Milwaukee Brighter Futures Initiative, through which more than 100 member organizations work to help children, adolescents, and families achieve their maximum potential. By promoting healthy families and youth, school readiness for children, and child safety in families and communities, we work together to provide a successful transition from childhood to adulthood.

No one should have to lose hope for the future because of a lack of resources today.

For more than 35 years, Community Advocates has worked to see its vision for Milwaukee become real: a community in which each person envisions a future with hope.
