We thought we would utilize a tradition among young males in America to help transform the lives of hundreds in Kenya: “No Shave November."
Throughout the month of November, we are challenging men to step up and help raise awareness, and funds, for a need that Bread of Life has had for two years. With the construction of a school and now a clinic, we have seen an increase in the need for transportation into and out of the villages where we work in Turkana. Because of the terrain, the best mode of transportation is called a piki-piki, which is basically an African motorcycle. These motorcycles can help transport pastors to villages who have never heard the Gospel, discipleship students to homes where they can minister to widows and orphans, supplies for the school or clinic to where they need to go, and patients to the larger hospital if the need arises. These motorcycles cost $1500/piece and, with your help, we can buy at least one, if not more, within 30 days.
You can help by simply giving $1/day for the 30 days that I will not be shaving in November. You can give more, but that is the minimum that we are asking. I am encouraging people to give the $30 in advance and I will keep you updated on my progress. If I shave before the 30 days is up, then I will personally pay you back the money. If you want to wait til the end of the month, that is fine as well. Ultimately, its up to you and what works best for your finances.
