A fiscally sponsored project of Springboard for the Arts: to SB. We create compelling theater about social injustice.

Thank you for your interest in Chain Reaction Theatre Project!

Chain Reaction Theatre Project ignites the human spirit by creating compelling, entertaining and socially conscious theatre, inspiring audiences, artists and communities to be more socially active world citizens.

Chain Reaction Theatre Project is very excited to announce our next project! The powerful play, "Choices", a world premiere, coming to the stage May 2014, explores the topic of healthy self-esteem, body image and putting our best selves out into the world. We believe that instead of taking up our valuable time, energy and brain space worrying about how we look, filling our brains with negative thoughts, and stuffing our feelings down though numerous coping methods, we can instead strive to empower ourselves through self-respect, self-care and self-acceptance. In doing so, we put our best selves out into the world to help put our talents and skills to good use in the world.

The play is primarily aimed at teenagers and their parents, and for good reason. The following facts, from the Alliance of Eating Orders Awareness, are alarming:

*1 in 5 women struggle with disordered eating or an eating disorder.

*The most common behavior that leads to an eating disorder is dieting.

*The diet and diet related industry is a 50 billion dollar/yr enterprise.

*One half of females between the ages of 18-25 would rather be run over by a truck than be fat, and 2/3 would rather be mean or stupid.

*51% of 9 and 10 year old girls feel better if they are on a diet.

*42% of 1st-3rd grade girls want to be thinner.

*Anorexia is the 3rd most common chronic illness among adolescents.

Along with the performances, we will create chain reactions through fulfilling our mission of shining a spotlight on nonprofits who are working to promote healthy lifestyles. We will also be working alongside with our community and audience members to take further action to join the cause in creating a society of people with positive self esteem, working together to make our world a better place.

Through your financial support, you can help us start a chain reaction by using the power of theater to bring important messages to the stage. It's easy! Just click on the GiveMN tab. Or, you can download a free I-Phone App to make a donation at your convenience. If you schedule your donation for November 14th, between the hours of 10:00 am and 11:00 am, Springboard for the Arts will match $10 per donation, regardless of the amount. Every little bit helps. And don't forget to share this with your friends!
