Welcome to my page!
I am beyond excited to announce that I will be running the 2013 Boston Marathon in April! I am even more thrilled that I have been offered a spot to run for Summer Search!
Summer Search is a non profit organization, dedicated to helping low-income youth build the confidence, character and skills needed to complete college and achieve their full potential. Summer Search provides low-income high school students with mentoring, summer experiences, and college advising, so they gain the skills to succeed in college and dramatically improve their life prospects. Summer Search Boston has incredible statistics! 100% of their students graduate from high school, 94% go on to college and 89% have graduated college or remain on track to do so (compared to a staggering 14% of their peers in the Boston Public Schools).
In addition to running for this amazing organization, I am running for my family! I have never felt more empowered to live a healthy lifestyle until the day our daughter was born. My husband, Andy, and I have two incredible children who are our world. Sometimes life can get so crazy and important aspects can start to fall to the wayside. My desire to train for this marathon comes from wanting to set a good example for my children by showing them they can do ANYTHING they put their mind to. Andy and I are extremely active and feel that there is no better way to bond with our children than getting them outdoors and exploring nature!
Over the next 6 months I will be following a vigorous training schedule, working a full time job, attending graduate school, writing a cookbook and last but certainly not least, being the mother and wife my family needs me to be - I could not do any of this, without the help of my husband!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. My hope is that your donation will warm your heart knowing that you will make a positive difference in the lives of so many.
