Who we are: The fundraisers on this team are strongly dedicated board members, faculty, and alumni of the Bus Expedition! The expedition model of education has been a leader in transformative experiential teaching and learning for over 4 decades beginning with the Trailside Country School, evolving into the Audubon Expedition Institute, and now re-emerging as the Expedition Education Institute at the non-profit EcoEducation Initiatives. Our goal is to create experiential learning communities that inspire informed and compassionate ecological leadership and to create opportunities for profound connections with the self, others, community, and the earth. The Expedition Education Institute offers higher education for the leaders, educators, and change agents of today and the future who will engage in lifelong learning, cross-cultural communication, environmental stewardship, social justice, and responsible global citizenship. Why support us: The importance of alternative education models cannot be understated. Unlike traditional educational models, EEI offers a chance for students to take control of their own learning, therefore becoming actively engaged citizens. The environmental movement needs creative, impassioned leaders who aren't afraid to take risks and who are confident in their abilities. As a community each individual student is encouraged to explore how they can best contribute to their community and learn self-value and have the opportunity to develop their best self. This fantastically visionary program is making the transition from having become a program at a larger university back to being an independently run program with more than one accrediting partnership. Thus it will be able to serve students of various disciplines and from a range of colleges and universities, allowing this amazing opportunity for personal transformation to reach a wider audience of students. To make this transition we need support to get the first semester "on the road."
