We are excited to announce our 2nd annual River Ride!!
When: Saturday, September 22, 2012, 3:30-7pm
Where: (3:30-5pm) Charles River Canoe, Allston/ Brighton
(5-7pm) BBQ Party at the American Legion Hall, Gerry's Landing-Eliot Bridge, Cambridge
Last September we had our first annual River Ride to benefit Cambridge Camping Association. It was a wonderful event that combined canoeing on the Charles River in Cambridge and an afternoon bbq party celebrating the 100 year old organization. The festivities began at Charles River Canoe, and finished on the riverfront grounds of the American Legion across the way. The fleet of canoes paddling along the Charles River enjoyed a mix of treasure hunting, searching for “gnomes” with prizes, admiring costumes and basking in a sunny fall day on the water. With 70 people donating and 100 people participating we raised over $13,000 for Cambridge Camping. We were able to successfully shine a spotlight on Cambridge Camping’s mission to provide at-risk, low-income, and underserved children with the opportunity of a summer camp experience in a safe and healthy setting. The engaging and enriching experiences offered at camp narrow the summer achievement gap between low income children and those who can afford a variety of summer options.
