A group of us signed up for a road race for fun, for health and for several good causes.
The annual Mew's Tavern 5K raises money for Easter Seals by holding this road race. But our team wanted to do a little extra and raise money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) whose mission it is educate the public about mental illness; to offer resources and support to all whose lives are touched by mental illness; to advocate at every level to ensure the rights and dignity of those with mental illness; and to promote research in the science and treatment of mental illness. We thank you in advance for any contributions you can make for NAMI. We'd love to show up for the race on November 18 having raised our goal of $500.00 but we'll be fundraising until the end of November so you have a month to join our cause!
FYI: The team name "RI Alive" comes from when most of our current team members participated in a Zombie Obstacle Course Race and we just figured we'd keep it as we enjoy RI and being alive.
