On Saturday, July 7th, 2012 the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence will host its first annual "Let's Kick It" kickball tournament. The purpose of the tournament is to support the coalition in its effort to end domestic violence and promote safe, healthy relationships by funding critical progamming, community education and advocacy. Last year, more than 30,000 people across the Metropolitan area utilized a vast range of domestic violence services. They are our mothers, our sisters, our coworkers and our friends. As a community we must educate ourselves and take a stand that this will not be tolerated. On July 7th we will let our voices be heard, and also engage in a little healthy competition.
RULES OF PLAY:
Teams can be organized in any way, but should have of a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 10 players on the field at any time, ages 12 and up. However, there is no limit to team rosters. Each team will set their own fundraising goals, but we are encouraging all teams who will participate in the tournament to raise at least $500. Trophies will be awarded for highest fundraisers, most creative team uniform, and of course the tournament champion.
Each team will have a captain that will be responsible for setting up their team page. This is done to rally participants and collect donations. It will be the responsibility of the team captain to keep track of the people on their team who will play in the tournament. To begin this process, simply select Join this Team and then Fundraise (located directly to the right) to customize your own team page. If you have any questions or difficulties, contact Lynea Woody at lwoody@dccadv.org or (202)299-1181 for assistance. If you are outside of the Washington Metropolitan Area or are unable to play you can still support DCCADV's efforts by starting or joining a virtual team.
Teams captains will be contacted by Lynea on June 29th in order for us to set up the brackets, but donations will be accepted until the day of the event.
The DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence thanks you for your continued support over the past 26 years and your on-going commitment to ending domestic violence. Now let's get ready to have some fun with a purpose!!!
