As a VISTA, not only have I learned about American poverty and how it impacts the community, but I have also seen the tremendous work of leaders and nonprofit organizations that work to eradicate poverty from our community.

It is through the passion of individuals who put their entire heart into a project that positive change happens. And, it is through Ohio Campus Compact that I am able to provide training and workshops for the grassroots nonprofits and dedicated individuals to ensure the change we dream about.

To illustrate the impact of this program, at one event, not only did nonprofit leaders learn about how to work more effectively with their boards from the training, but they also were able to network with each other. This meant that an individual who wanted to start a community baseball team obtained a grant for $500 while another found the land she needed for a community garden.
