You can leave a Legacy - Adopt a Tree at CKP!
A project of PHYLLIS WHEATLEY COMMUNITY CENTER INC
$10 honors a loved one and plants a native tree at Camp Katharine Parsons (CKP)!
Help restore Camp Parsons to its pre-settlement splendor!
You can leave a legacy and help us preserve this 106 acre jewel for future generations by adopting one or more native trees at $10 each!
Phyllis Wheatley Community Center has owned Camp Katharine Parsons since 1956. Prior to its use as a camp for inner city children the property had been cleared and used for grazing and agriculture. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources considers the camp, a peninsula on Oak Lake in Carver County, to be located in a region of Minnesota known as the Big Woods.
CKP has a DNR approved Woodland Stewardship Plan in place and one of our primary objectives is to restore the property to its original Big Woods pre-settlement condition. Our goal this year is to plant 500 native oak, walnut, maple, hackberry and hickory tree varieties!
Donors will receive an official Certificate of Adoption including the number of trees adopted and to whom the trees are planted in honor of.
